In athletics, Lower Sixth Tazana Kamanga-Dyrbak represented Denmark at the Youth Olympic Games held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was selected to run in the 200m, where he qualified for the final and finished in 4th place.

In cricket, Upper Sixth pupils Lewis Goldsworthy and Kasey Aldridge have been selected for England U19 on their tour to Bangladesh in February 2019, with Millfield Meyer’s XI Captain, Upper Sixth pupil Sam Young selected as first reserve. The pupils will now take part in ECB training camps in England and Bangalore, in preparation for the Overseas Competitive Series in Bangladesh next year.

In equestrian, a number of pupils took part in British show jumping competitions: In Dorset, Year 11 Zoe Lindley Smith riding her own horse ‘Roxy’ placed 2nd in the 1.30m 15/09, and Upper Sixth Reanna Stanhope riding her own horse ‘Coolboy’ placed 1st in the 1m 15/09. Reanna also placed 2nd in the 1.05m class 13/10 at the West Wiltshire Equestrian Centre, and Year 10 Sofia Scriven riding her own horse ‘Esther’ placed 1st in the 90cm 13/10 in West Wiltshire.

At British Eventing competitions, Year 10 Bronte Monks on Cuffesgrange Lord Admiral placed 1st in the BE100Open on 1/09 at Goring Heath, and Upper Sixth Talullah Bartlett on Candyman Leanorth placed 1st in the OIU21 15/09 at Pontispool.

In golf, Millfield won the HMC 1st round against Truro 3-0, with a team consisting of Lower Sixth Tom Peet, Year 9 Harriet Lockley, Lower Sixth Charlie Goss, Year 11 Marceau Kernanet, Lower Sixth William O’Halloran and Year 9 Freddie Turnell.

Lower Sixth pupil Mimi Rhodes finished runner-up in the French Ladies Amateur Open.

In hockey, Upper Sixth pupil Stuart Rushmere won the Sultan of Johor Cup with the Great Britain U21 side, winning 3-2 against India in the final. Stuart has also been selected for the England Development Squad.

Upper Sixth pupils Louis Wrenn, Vicki McCabe and Becky Manton have been selected for the National Age Group Squads (NAGs) U18 camp. Year 11 Julia Spence has also been selected for the NAGs U16 camp.

Upper Sixth Becky Manton has been selected for the England U18 hockey squad.

The U14A girls won the Tier 1 County Cup, beating King’s Bruton 3-0, Taunton School 5-0 and King’s College 5-1. The U14B girls also participated in the Tier 2 County Cup, where they were the only B team playing against other school A sides. They came 4th in a competition that consisted of seven teams, losing only once.

The U15A girls are through to the 3rd round of the ISHC by winning against Redmaids 3-0. The 1st XI girls are also through to the 3rd round of the same competition, winning against Bromsgrove 3-1.

In netball, the U14 and U16 squads were unbeaten in the County Tournaments, winning both age groups and progressing to the Regional Schools competition in January.

Upper Sixth pupil Clemie Lucas-Roast has been selected into the NPL U19 Severn Stars squad.

In rugby, Millfield players showed great sportsmanship during the U14C fixture against Sherborne School. The teams shared the team huddle, and showed outstanding spirit and commitment in defeat.

The 1st XI team also showed great resilience after a 6-0 down start to win their SOCS Daily Mail Schools match against Sherborne School, leaving them in unbeaten third place in the tournament behind Rugby School and Sedbergh School.

In squash, Upper Sixth pupils Evann Tan and Taylor Carrick competed in the Nordic Junior Open in Malmo Sweden.

The U16 boys’ and girls’ teams are through to the second stage of the National Schools Championships.

Millfield Squash also played a friendly fixture with Bryanston, where 15 pupils from Years 5 through to Upper Sixth competed.

In tennis, Millfield’s Aegon Year 8 and 10 teams have all made it through to the regional finals (girls and boys), which take place on the 15th and 16th November.
