In athletics, Lower Sixth Daphne Schrager represented England at the Commonwealth Games in Australia, finishing in 5th place in the T35 100m event.

Girls’ Captain Bobbie Davies in Upper Sixth ran a new lifetime best in the 400m (57.3 seconds) and is now ranked in the top 20 in the UK. She has been followed closely by Lower Sixth Robyn Watkin’s 2 second improvement to 57.8 seconds. Upper Sixth Javelin thrower Emily Dibble is now ranked 3rd in the UK.

At the Achilles Relays on the Sir Roger Bannister track in Oxford, Millfield achieved unprecedented success with wins in nine relay categories ranging from 4x100m to 3x800m. The day saw Millfield teams win every 4 x 100m relay of the meet for the first time.

At the Somerset Combined Events Championships hosted at Millfield, Lower Sixth Ollie Thorner competed in his first decathlon at U18 level and finished with 6586 points, which now places him 5th in the IAAF world rankings.

Year 11 Marcia Sey (100m hurdles) and Lower Sixth Elise Thorner (800m and 2000m Steeplechase) have run qualifying times for the European U18 championships to be held in Bulgaria in July.

In equestrian, 600 equestrians from all over the UK, including Top 4 Star level riders, competed at the fourth annual Millfield British Eventing Horse Trials hosted at Millfield Prep. Read more. Out of 21 Millfield pupils, representing both Millfield and Millfield Prep, 10 finished in the top 20 in their sections. Year 11 pupil Susan Rogers-Coltman finished 2nd in the BE 100 OPEN, after being pipped by 0.2 difference in the dressage mark.

At the Aston Le Walls Horse Trials, Year 9 pupil Bronte Monks won the BE U18 and Lower Sixth Talullah Bartlett finished 8th.

In other racing, Upper Sixth Henry Crow won the Open Hunters' Chase at Cheltenham.

In fencing, a number of pupils competed in international competitions: Year 9 pupils Elena Launder and Jo Maddock and Year 10 Morgan Zaky competed with the England U15 team in Poland.

At the World Championships in Verona, Year 9 Kelsey Woname competed for Ghana in the U17 and U20 categories and Upper Sixth Arianna Balestrieri competed for Great Britain in the U20s.

In golf, at the ISGA finals at St Mellion, the Millfield Team of Upper Sixth Emily Price, Lower Sixth Morgan Thomas and Year 11 Mimi Rhodes, finished runners-up after the two day competition.

At the HMC finals, the Millfield team of Upper Sixth Jamie Johnson, Lower Sixth Olivia Hirschfield, Year 11 pupils Charlie Goss and Hugo King and Year 10 pupils Ellie Lace and Marceau Kernanet, won their match against Sherborne to help Millfield reach the finals in July at Luffenham Heath.

In other competition, Lower Sixth Olivia Hirschfield won the Hertfordshire Ladies County Championships, and Lower Sixth Morgan Thomas finished as runner-up of both the Whittingham Ladies Trophy and Leveret Trophy.

Year 9 Patience Rhodes finished runner-up at the Puntuable Playa Serena Tournament in Spain and placed 44th British Girls’ U16 Championship, and Year 11 Charlie Goss finished runner-up in the Somerset Boys Championship.

In karate, Millfield hosted the Washinkai Cup, where Year 11 Charlie Pearman-Wright placed 1st in Kata and 3rd in Kumite (Fighting), Upper Sixth Harry Kemp placed 2nd in Kata, and Year 11 Luca Lattanzi placed 1st in Kumite (Fighting).

In modern pentathlon, the Millfield team competed at the British Tetrathlon Championships in Bath. Year 9 Olivia Mahony won the U15 girls’ title, Year 11 Aurelio Calipa won bronze in the boys’ U17 and Lower Sixth Will Howard won bronze in the boys’ U19.

In outdoor activities, two teams of six Year 9 pupils undertook the Ten Tors challenge on Dartmoor, navigating across a 35-mile route through the Dartmoor wilderness completely independently.

Upper Sixth pupil Laura Woodward attended a presentation at Buckingham Palace where she received her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.

In polo, at the Senior Schools Nationals Polo Tournament, Year 11 pupils Armand Le Page and Captain Ahmadu-Bello Ali Shinkafi played in the novice section for the B team, eventually becoming national champions for their class.

In the beginner section, the C team including Upper Sixth Sophie Busuttil, Captain Year 10 Caragh Norris and Year 11 Henry Palmer placed 3rd in their class.

In swimming, Year 10 Tatiana Tostevin competed for Team Guernsey at the Commonwealth Games in Australia. Tatiana competed in four events, gaining three personal bests and breaking a number of national records.

Lower Sixth Imara-Bella Thorpe raced for Kenya at the CANA Zone IV/V Championships in Malawi, winning two gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

At the Mediterranean Open, Upper Sixth Kieran Bird and Lower Sixth Jakob Goodman raced in Marseille for Team England.

Both Upper Sixth Isabel Jones and Year 11 Evan Jones won national titles at the Scottish National Age Group Championships in Glasgow.

Lower Sixth Jakob Goodman and Year 11 Rachel Anderson were both selected to the European Junior Championships team representing Great Britain.

Coach James Clarke coached at the World School Games in Morocco in early May.

Lower Sixth pupils Abigail Hurst and Hamish Skillman and Year 11 Sophia Wilson have been selected for the South West team to compete at the Bulgarian National Championships in Sofia.
